Field notes from life

Why we bailed on Dallas

On 11 June 2010, the day of the farewell show, the Dallas Observer ran Alan Ayo's Q&A: “Giggle Party Tells Us Why It's Bailing On Dallas.” The stated reason was that I was headed to San Francisco for real-life, not-at-all-music-related career reasons, and Kat and the rest of the band came too. My own framing was sharper — “Dallas was just a stop on my way to moving to a coast,” and “San Francisco will be shitty, and harder to gain traction as a band. I think we love that kind of challenge.” John from Parade of Flesh, Cory Graves and Jaime Falcon objected loudest.
