I got online in 1995 and used it the way it was actually used then — playing internet games and building websites for bands. The handles I carried were kingdork1983, a King Dork reference with my birth year in it, and jokerman800, alongside the one the archive kept independently, iamadorkforyou. Two of the three are self-deprecating jokes about being a dork. The voice was already fully formed at about twelve.
